Secluded beaches in Ibiza, Spain

Tranquil Ibiza beach

Ibiza or the White Isle as it is also known is a premier beach destination in the Mediterranean Sea. Ibiza is part of the greater Balearic Islands belonging to Spain. The White Isle has long, wide beaches like Las Salinas and it has many tiny, secluded beaches; some that are difficult to reach such as Atlantis; reachable only by boat.

While Ibiza is commonly known as the world’s biggest party island, it is actually so much more. In terms of beaches Ibiza is just as amazing, especially with the smaller island of Formentera just short boat ride away with its miles and miles of white and golden, sandy beaches and turquoise water.

Beaches in the South and around Ibiza town

Next to Ibiza town is Talamanca beach featuring a lovely promenade packed with restaurants and bars. The hotels in Talamanca have great views over Ibiza town and the beach is ideal for relaxing in the sun. Further south is Playa d’en Bossa which is famous for its Sunday beach parties meaning that for a quiet relaxing day, avoid this beach. Las Salinas still further south is huge and very popular in the summer. Cala Jondal toward the South of the island is wonderfully quiet and out of the way.

Beaches in and around San Antonio

San Antonio is the package holiday centre of the island and so it is busy, busy, busy in the summer. The beaches are ram-packed and backed by bars, restaurants, tattoo parlours and souvenir shops. If it is beach parties you want, come here. If you want something a bit more relaxed and grown-up there are a number of wonderful beaches within about ten to fifteen minutes of San Antonio such as Cala Conta, Cala d’Hort overlooking Es Vedra, Cala Vadella, Cala Moli and Cala Tarida; the tiny resort area with the island’s longest beach.

Beaches in the North

Benirras beach in the North West is absolutely lovely and is the perfect place for a quiet sunset. Cala San Vicente is a pristine, golden beach with loungers, parasols, restaurants and bars, and it lacks the hectic crowds that often swarm around the larger towns. Other great northern beaches include Portinax, Cala Xuclar and Cala Xarraca.

Beaches around Santa Eularia in the East

Santa Eularia is the opposite of San Antonio; it is more authentic and Spanish feeling and is where many locals prefer to live. Just south is tiny Cala Llonga beach in a protected bay. Es Figueral near San Carlos is narrow, but long with soft golden sand. Cala Martina is by Es Cana, near Las Dalias, the famous Hippy market. Loads of water sports can be found here and this is the best beach for windsurfing.
