Map view of Meribel
There is certainly no shortage of great activities in Meribel
Set at the heart of the 3-Vallees skiing area, Meribel offers traditional alpine charm combined with convenient state-of-the-art skiing and one of the most extensive and effective lift systems anywhere in the alps. Although well known as a winter holiday resort, Meribel is an ideal centre for both relaxation and activity holidays throughout much of the rest of the year.
Activities & Information
From late May onwards the combination of spring colours and Alpine scenery provides a wonderful setting for walking holidays. As the snow melts the alpine plants burst forth giving rise to a carpet of colours. The footpaths are well signed and there is scope for every level of walking from gentle woodland to rugged mountain.
By early June the snow has receded from Meribel’s 18-hole golf course, set high up on the west facing slope with views across to the alpine ridges. There are at least a dozen other golf courses within a little over an hour’s drive, all of which are ‘pay and play’.
July sees the resort springing into life with a wide range of activities, including mountain biking, riding, tennis, and white water rafting. At the end of August the bustle ceases and with the onset of autumn comes another range of colours and opportunities for a last walking holiday before winter.
Summer in Meribel
Other summer activities include rock climbing, canyoning, clay pigeon shooting, fly-fishing, paragliding, grass-skiing, archery, skating and swimming. During July and August selected lifts operate, giving easy access to high levels for walking, mountain biking or just enjoying the spectacular scenery.
